Ealing Council

Goals

When the government introduced the Integrated Children's System (ICS), Ealing Council immediately recognised the advantages of this new procedure. However, it was unable to meet the criteria for compliance, as its IT systems were over 14 years old. Ealing Council wanted to implement a more modern approach to case management for both adults and children that included a workflow system to guide and support case workers. It also needed a solution that would allow it to share information and documents electronically with partner agencies.

Charteris' Role

Charteris' role in the project was a pivotal one. The firm was required to liaise between the council and the software vendors and ensure that the council's two selected software solutions (Corelogic's frameworki and StaffPlan's Homecare Roster) were implemented in line with the council's requirements. Charteris supported the council's in-house IT team by providing advice and help in areas such as data migration, integration, configuration management, testing and project planning. In addition, it provided consultancy on how best to utilise frameworki for statutory reporting requirements.

Results

The deployment of frameworki and Homecare Roster has triggered a huge improvement in reporting and casework management within Ealing Council's social services teams. For the first time in many years, the council has modern IT systems in its social services departments that it can use without fear of system crashes. Ealing Council anticipates that the solutions will help it to improve the quality of care provided to vulnerable children and adults in the borough.
