Isle of Man Government
Scenario
To conduct a three year review of the Islands e-business strategy and its execution.
Situation
In March 2000 Charteris completed a study for the Isle of Man Government to establish the most appropriate means of developing and implementing an environment in which electronic commerce could flourish on the Island. One of the key recommendations of this report was to establish a position within Government of a Director of e-commerce, who would provide a focus for encouraging e-business, build a strategy from the report, and drive through the implementation of the accepted recommendations.
A Director of e-commerce was appointed in October 2000.
Charteris Role
In December 2002 Charteris were asked by the Director of e-commerce, on behalf of the Chief Secretary, to conduct a comprehensive review of the Islands e-business strategy and its execution to date.
Tim Craine, Director of e-commerce, said "I am pleased to be working with Charteris on this essential update to our strategy. Their previous report was instrumental in setting the Government agenda, and much has been achieved in the last two years to place the Isle of Man in a strong competitive position. I am sure this work will strengthen our hand in the years to come."
